There is a lot more to Amelia Island than just our beautiful beaches.

Fort Clinch is a 1,400 acres State Park. The parks 3 mile shore line is a great place to go shark tooth hunting and shelling. It also features a 6 mile off road multi use trail that is great for biking and hiking.  The park also offers guided tours on foot or you can join a Park Ranger on a guided kayak tour. Learn about the natural and cultural history of this area while enjoying the local flora and fauna and spotting wild life and birds. The dense population of Spanish Moss draped Live Oaks alone is worth the trip.

THE FORT – TRAVEL BACK IN TIME 

The Historic Fort was built in 1864, it has been well preserved and restored. You can explore the entire fort on your own and see how the Civil Union Soldiers lived, worked and slept. You can go on top of the fort as well from where you will be able to see an amazing view but more importantly you will be able to get a really close look at the canons.

EVENTS – UNION GARRISON WEEKEND

This event takes place every first weekend of the month.  The upcoming dates are August 5th and 6th, 9am till Noon.

This program will allow visitors to interact with living historians to experience life in the fort as it was in 1864. The grounds will be bustling with soldiers in period costumes involved in firing demonstrations, marching drills, cooking and daily activities. Ladies in their dresses, sutlers displaying their wares, fife players and drummer boys bring every part of the civil war era to life. Come join in this unique, family friendly event.

$2.00 admission to the event.
