Tasting Tours in Historic Downtown Fernandina
Amelia Island has gained several new tours over the last year, many which not only fuel your mind with the rich history of the island, but also your appetite with some of the amazing cuisine that sets this small gem apart from other areas in North Florida.
Amelia Island Tasting Tours currently offers two tours to choose from – the Mixology Tour and the Downtown Tasting Tour. Both tours offer a walk through the Historic Downtown District, a brief talk of history and food or beverages that reflect the Island’s spirit.
The Mixology tour is what some would call an “on-the-go cocktail party”. This 2 hour tour consists of four randomized locations where guests will meet the fun, eccentric people behind the bars that make unique and exciting drinks. You will learn the art of mixing cocktails and enjoy a specially created craft cocktail at each location. There is even the option to vote for the best drink, which will help to decide the Bartender of the Week! Tour times are Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm and cost is $39 per person.
The Downtown Tasting Tour is a 2.5 hour tour that consists of a stroll through downtown and samplings of four randomized restaurants that are considered to be ‘local favorites’. Guests will be able to meet the Owners and Chefs that prepare the dishes that make Amelia Island known for its local and creative cuisine. Some tastings are paired with a beverage that compliments the foods prepared. You can also vote for your favorite restaurant. After the votes are tabulated, one local restaurant will receive the award for Restaurant of the Week. For dates, check the Tour Calendar Tours run from 2pm-4:30pm and cost is $59 per person.
Amelia Island Tasting Tours is currently in the works of developing three news tours: the Dessert Tour, the Chocolate Tour, and the Downtown Pub Crawl. We are so excited for all of the new tours and opportunities that Amelia Island has been able to create for its guests!
