The Picnic Basket is located downtown on Centre Street. They are all about fresh ingredients and their food holds them true to that. Our visit on their first day of business was very delightful. The staff was friendly, inviting and very helpful with any questions we had. The restaurants appearance was exquisite and very unique. Not only is this a restaurant, it’s a bakery and a gift shop/market as well. Glass cases display their tempting sweet treats, fresh breads, salads, cheese and meats.
They offer a variety of fresh juice, smoothies, coffee, salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps, pitas, cheese, charcuterie, breakfast baskets and desserts. They also have very unique, affordable gifts and gift sets sure to please anyone.
You can even order a picnic basket to go and take it your favorite spot on the island to enjoy.
The food was divine and we will be back repeatedly to eventually experience everything on the menu. The “Green Goddess Juice” is the perfect combo of kale, cucumber, spinach, green apple, fennel and thyme and leaves you feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and very satisfied. We also tried the “Organic Greens and Raspberry Salad” and the “Organic Root and Goat Cheese Salad” and both were very impressive. We behaved and didn’t get a sweet treat but it was very tempting because everything in the case looked so delicious. They have a great selection of cakes, pies and cookies.
